Olympias is an active gold-silver-lead-zinc mine operated by Hellas Gold (Eldorado Gold Corporation) in the northern part of the Chalkidiki Peninsula, Greece. The project was executed in two phases:
- Phase One (2013-2016): This phase involved the reprocessing of previously mined tailings. EOS implemented an advanced control system across all processing plant facilities to produce gold concentrate.
- Phase Two (2017-2022): This phase focused on processing underground ore through a refurbished mill using a flotation process, resulting in three concentrates: lead-silver, zinc, and gold-bearing pyrite-arsenopyrite.
For both project phases, EOS provided:
- Advanced redundant control systems for all processing stages, including crushing, grinding, flotation, tailings management, paste plant operations, and wastewater treatment.
- Supply and installation of instrumentation.
- Supply and installation of an industrial communications network.
- 24/7/365 support services.
Since 2013, EOS’s implemented control system has efficiently managed production requirements. The plant manager reported zero downtime attributable to the control system during phase one of the project.
